SENIOR ACCOUNTANT

JOB DESCRIPTION

Responsible for all aspects of the revenue accounting cycle, including our hedging program. Also, all aspects of cost accounting as it relates to the origination and sale of residential mortgages. Complete the monthly financial reporting cycle including publishing all financials and management reports.

ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Revenue Accounting -

  1. Oversee the export/import of closed and funded loans from the LOS system (Loan origination system) to the General Ledger. This includes processing the input of each loan into the G/L.
  2. In addition to the information from the LOS, this position will also enter all additional data, at the loan level, required for creating monthly branch P&L’s.
  3. Enter all transactions relating to our hedging program at each month end. This is driven by the monthly reporting from our trading partner MCT Trading. Reconcile all key data, ex. Funding dates, lock or hedge rates, etc. for each loan. This includes both unrealized (Mark-to-Market) gains/losses and realized (settled and closed) gains/losses.
  4. Input all the loan sales data, once the loan has been sold to one of IMH’s investors.
  5. Prepare the monthly suite of loan sales reports.
  6. Input all information regarding Loans Held for Sale (LHFS) including both hedged and best efforts loans.
  7. Input all information monthly relating to our warehouse funding lines (loans outstanding, fees, interest, etc.).
  8. Prepare monthly account reconciliations for all P&L and B/S accounts relating to revenue/income.
  9. Assist and support all requirements for annual audits, as well as periodic regulatory audits.

Cost Accounting -

  1. Recording cost information as it relates to payroll expense, commissions, bonuses, health benefits, payroll taxes, etc. This is after the core payroll data has been automatically uploaded to the G/L from the Payroll system.
  2. Input and reconcile monthly commissions and bonuses.
  3. Input all unique expense items at the loan level such as, price overrides, lender cures, various loan fees, etc.
  4. Collect and input all data relating to borrower/warehouse lines/ investors which drive the balance sheet accounts such as borrower fees payable, borrower fees receivable, escrow liabilities, due to/from Warehouse Investor, etc.
  5. Reconcile all balance sheet accounts monthly.

Additional Duties/Responsibilities

  1. Create and publish monthly financials and related management reports.
  2. Conduct monthly reconciliations of both P&L and Balance Sheet accounts.
  3. Maintain tables, schedules, etc. of data elements required to create branch P&L’s which reside outside the LOS system.

Experience and Skills:

Qualifications

  1. Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
  2. 7+ years experience in general accounting including revenue and cost accounting
  3. Mortgage Banking experience a must
  4. Experience with Jack Henry Accounting Software a plus
  5. Well-developed written and oral communication skills
  6. Excellent working knowledge of EXCEL and WORD.
